Hi, I’m Jennifer! I’m proud to be a Director at Collective Results.
I place high importance in family and friends. I have a wonderful husband and two amazing, grown children. I also have two elderly parents who are bravely coping with Parkinson’s Disease. I love to be active, doing things like swimming, hiking, playing volleyball and traveling. I have a bit of a creative side too and dabble in stained glass and guitar.
My plan was to retire from a long and fulfilling career in Public Health in May 2020, but that was delayed by the pandemic. I stayed at the health unit until December 2020 to support our initial response. After retiring I took a few months off and then joined Collective Results on a part-time basis. I love having more flexibility in my work hours so that I have more time to focus on other interests and activities.
While at Public Health I led a dynamic, skilled, and highly motivated team and I still miss interacting with them (shout out to all of you). But there are many reasons that I’m enjoying my work at Collective Results and the primary one is the team. My colleagues are people that I’ve worked with, respected, and admired for many years. Three other things I enjoy in my work are challenges, opportunities to motivate people, and engaging in meaningful work – the kind of work that will make a difference for people that have been historically underrepresented in systems and services. With Collective Results, I get all of this.
One of my favourite quotes is from Maya Angelou, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” I believe this is true and that every person has daily opportunities to lift people up in their personal and professional lives. I have witnessed people that I admire behaving this way and I try to emulate that. Can you think of someone who makes you feel like a better person, just by spending time with them?
