Collective Results recently supported the Research Institute for Aging (RIA) with a facilitation to build connection and excitement among all employees with their new organizational strategic plan. We set out from the start to make this a fun and engaging activity because well…sometimes…strategic plans may not necessarily generate mass amounts of excitement.
We are happy to report that the activity achieved the stated goals to build strategic plan excitement and connection! We wanted to share this activity as it may be one that your organization may want to try if you are looking to build deeper understanding, connection and excitement with your strategic plan! If you’d rather be a participant in an activity like this, Collective Results is also happy to facilitate this type of activity for your organization or community!
The Activity: Exploring Your Strategic Plan Using Lego and Other Creative Materials
Step 1: Arrange loose lego, paper, markers, stickers and other creative materials on every table
Step 2: Individual Thinking
- Thinking about your strategic plan, use the materials provided to build, doodle, write etc.
- Where do you have the most interest/curiosity with your strategic plan? and/or
- Where do you feel most connected/situated in your strategic plan? and/or
- What is energizing you with your strategic plan?
Step 3: Pair
- Pair with the person next to you to explore:
- Share and describe what you developed
- Is there an opportunity to connect your ideas together?
Step 4: Share
- Share with your full table:
- Share and describe what you developed
- Is there an opportunity to connect your ideas together?
Step 5: Display
- Abusing card stock, give your creation (solo or combined) a title and a description
- Place on a display table for a museum walk
We followed up with the RIA after the session to learn more about their experience with this activity and in working with Collective Results. This is what they shared!
RIA’s Experience with this Activity
We weren’t sure how our team would respond to the activity, but we were pleasantly surprised with the engagement. We ended up taking extra time so the tables could work together on their creations. It really helped bring the strategic plan to life and was a fun way for the team to vision their contributions. It helped all of us identify our role in the plan and how our collective efforts would get us to impact.
Experience Working with Collective Results
We appreciated the planning sessions with the Collective Results team leading up to our event. They listened carefully to our objectives and came back with creative solutions. They were a great support to our team event.
From Collective Results: Thank you RIA for inviting Collective Results to lead this session for your group. We loved your group energy and appreciated the background Bridgerton music during the session 🙂
