Hi, I’m Ishan!
I’m the newest member of the team, joining Collective Results just a few weeks ago in September 2021.
Prior to joining Collective Results, I was fortunate to have had an exciting and evolving career path. I was a high school science and physical and health education teacher for 2.5 years, with most of that time teaching at a public high school in the British Virgin Islands. After going back to school to complete a graduate degree, I transitioned into work at a regional public health unit in Ontario. Over my 12 years in public health, I worked at two public health units in several different roles with many amazing colleagues. From facilitating health promotion initiatives to program evaluation to health system planning, I had some great experiences doing profound and rewarding work in the communities in which I lived.
And then COVID-19 happened… I could not fathom being part of global pandemic response during my public health career (who could?), but there I was for almost 19 months. Like many others all over, I found an opportunity for reflection on what was important to me and what I wanted a post-COVID-19 world to be. For me, it was clear that my family of 2 children under 5 and wonderful partner were a priority, and I wanted to spend as much time with them as I could. It was also clear that the pandemic had exacerbated all the inequities and social challenges that individuals and communities faced pre-COVID. I wanted to do more profound, community building, barrier crushing work in this new world, but I wanted to do so by working closer and more collaboratively with front-line not-for-profit organizations, charities and public sector institutions to make it happen. This is exactly why I joined Collective Results!
The projects that my Collective Results colleagues and I are working on are making this positive change happen. We are working at eliminating barriers to care in our healthcare system. We are supporting change so that youth can access timely mental health supports in their community. And we are helping small organizations evaluate and promote their amazing work.
I am ecstatic to be part of the Collective Results team, working side by side with amazing humans and I cannot wait to see what change-making work we do next!
